Escape the winter doldrums and immerse yourself in the excitement of the season. As the coldest, shortest, and darkest days of winter descend upon us, the Skoltice Showdown is here to light up your winter. We've crafted an experience that offers fun for everyone, regardless of skill level, and it's all happening at beautiful Viking Lakes!
Outdoor Hockey:
Step onto our Mauer GMC Ice Rinks and experience the pure joy of outdoor hockey. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a casual enthusiast, our nightly leagues and weekend tournaments provide endless opportunities to showcase your skills and create lasting memories on the ice.
Warming Haus:
Seek refuge from the cold outdoors in our Warming Haus. Indulge in delicious snacks, sip on your favorite beverages, and groove to live music. It's also the perfect spot to catch watch parties of thrilling sporting events, all while taking a break from the winter chill.
Winter Lights:
If getting out on the ice isn't your cup of cocoa, take a leisurely stroll through our winter-themed lakes and trails, adorned with enchanting Winter Lights. It's a captivating experience that will leave you mesmerized by the magic of the season.

High School Division:
Description: The High School Division is designed for current high school players, all levels are welcome.
Eligibility: Open to 9th - 12th Graders.
Gold Division:
Description: The Gold Division is designed for advanced to elite players, equivalent to A Level Adult League experience.
Eligibility: Open to highly skilled players with advanced hockey experience.
Silver Division:
Description: The Silver Division is for players with high school and/or college hockey experience, typically at the B/C Adult League Level.
Eligibility: Open to players with a background in high school or college hockey.
Rink Rat Division:
Description: The Rink Rat Division is perfect for players with little hockey experience, suitable for those at the D/E Adult League Level.
Eligibility: Open to players who are relatively new to hockey.
Bender Division:
Description: The Bender Division is a non-competitive division ideal for those with limited or zero hockey experience.
Eligibility: Open to players of all skill levels, including beginners.
Games:Each team is guaranteed 4 pool play games followed by bracket play. All teams advance to bracket play.
Rosters: 4v4 Game-play with 6-8 players per team.
Game Duration: Each game consists of two fifteen-minute halves, separated by a two-minute halftime break. Time is allotted 5 minutes for shoveling and warming up in between game-play.
Round Robin: Teams will be placed in divisions and will play a round-robin format to determine advancement.
Tiebreakers: In the event of ties in standings, tiebreakers will be determined by total points, goal difference, and total goals scored.
Overtime: For games ending in a tie, a sudden-death overtime will be played. If still tied, a shootout will determine the winner.
Officials: At least one off-ice official will monitor play, including scoring, timekeeping, puck resets, and infractions.
Officials can award penalty shots for flagrant minor penalties or consistent reckless play. The shot must be taken from center ice within 30 seconds of the penalty call.
TEAM RegistrationViking Lakes is excited to once again host its third annual Winter SKOLstice, and this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever! There will be 100 consecutive days of activation on the Eagan campus that will be designed to give Minnesotans opportunities to get outside and enjoy the winter weather. Free activities for all ages and skill levels will occur daily beginning November 17th to February 25th, and will include a Magic of Lights show, Warming Haus hospitality tent, Winter Markets, Skating Rink w/ skate rentals, MN Ice Festival, hockey & curling rinks, and unique programming throughout each weekend.
